Advocacy
Our Advocacy services
At TRIS we take action to help people say what they want, secure their rights, represent their
interests, and obtain the services they need by working in partnership with the people we support
and take their side. We advocate in:
- Health and Social Care act independently of local councils or the NHS. We help people -
often older adults or people with a disability/similar condition - better understand their
rights, while making sure their views and wishes are properly expressed, and their voice
heard.
- Education: We are instructed by parents of children/young people with special educational
needs to challenge local authority decisions and if necessary, prepare and serve appeals
before SENDIST. We do all of the casework in-house and use our own staff to advocate
before the Tribunal. We are Specialist SEN Advocates. We are not sen solicitors, barristers
or legal executives. We have in excess 15 years’ experience of the SEN System through a
variety of lenses; parent; paralegal; ASD worker; LA Senior SEN officer. Our team
understands the frustration of trying to work through the various layers of the Education,
Health and Care Plan (EHCP) / Statement of Special Educational Needs (SSEN) process.
We understand how to cut through the bureaucracy and get to the nub of the issues as
quickly and efficiently as possible.
We place the needs of the child firmly at the centre of our work. Our view is that you are
the expert on your child, and we are the experts on Education Law. Together, we are a
powerful force to ensure your child’s needs are met in full allowing your child to take a
confident step towards reaching their true potential.
